You know you had it coming

I was watching
you stare
into your coffee
with the black
pools of time
drawing you
into the memories
that still
haunt you

lost longings
re-emerging
pulling strings
of revenge
&
resentment
to the surface
where they find
no freedom

when it all
comes back
&
everything's
said & done
there's only one
person you can
lie too...
that's someone else

At the end of the path

This is all there is
death recycling life
eternity in each breath
beauty & ugliness
wrapped in each others arms

All things moving
in the reversal of time
happiness & sorrow
walking hand in hand
with love & hate

Below heaven & earth
many are trapped
between yin & yang
in some lineal dream
of suffering & pain

At the end of the path
there is only this
eternal circle
flowing forever forward
to this moment

Just another love poem

in the end
we are all
devoured
by
the machine

ground
&
gutted
by the cogs
of constant
consumerism

here

see our souls
sucked dry
by
the wheels
of desire
&
the greedy
clutches
of our own
stinking
shadow

in the end

we
are all
swallowed
by the sweet
life

Insignificance & the bigger meaning

Today I took a spanner
& disassembled all beliefs.
Nut after nut fell from
books of philosophy
books of religion
books of science.

Today I disemboweled
all the prophets and intellects.
Cutting thru the hubris
I discovered only
fear & trembling.

Today I sifted thru the mind
of man & stumbled
up the stairs
of power & glory.
I saw the many faces
of God crumbling
at the gates of heaven.

Today I unscrewed
all the politicians
& packed them away
in large wooden crates.
I stacked them neatly
in the corner of my kitchen
& forgot all about them.

Today I saw a rainbow
& went digging
for that pot of gold.

You never see it coming

It pours upon
one like thick
dark disgust

Everything
suffocates

Everything
is nothing

It all drowns
in a silent sea
of manic
screams
while the world
continues
to forget
&
neglect
this thing called
love

Everything
suffocates

Everything
is nothing

It engulfs one
in this pain
that is so pure
it scorches
&
scars
the soul
&
threatens
to linger
for all eternity

Everything
suffocates

Everything
is nothing

But then the sun
slowly rises
&
in the distance
a dim light
appears

A meal fit for nothing

around the table
we sat
with our hungry minds
feeding on a platter
of thoughts
forking mouthfuls
of politics
philosophy
&
a whole heap
of other crazy crap
into our sorry ass
souls

while outside
in the real world
nothing fucking
changes

Flickering embers

an old night
full of fading memories
lost photographic images
framed in the negative
hang restlessly
in the dim
corridors of my past

father watching t.v.
beer in hand
cigarette
brown slippers
my brothers & me
playing chinese checkers
half the marbles missing
from previous battles

in the kitchen
mother...pretending
not to be lonely
& afraid
while all the time
despising all of us
for not helping
to keep her dreams alive
